Tetris 2 is a sequel to the Nintendo developed line of Tetris titles for Nintendo Entertainment System and Game Boy. This installment was released for the Game Boy, alongside other versions for the Super Nintendo and Nintendo Entertainment System. This version plays differently from the original in that the player has three colors of falling blocks, and by lining up three blocks of the same color, horizontally or vertically, they will disappear. While the falling blocks are still made up of four pieces, they may also be joined diagonally, creating many new shapes.

While the Nintendo Entertainment System released first, the Super Nintendo and Game Boy versions both feature an exclusive Puzzle Mode not found in this version.

In Japan, the game was titled Tetris Flash which differed from the Tetris 2 title marketed in the North America and Europe.
