Soyo Oka

Soyo Oka Former employee of Nintendo Company Limited, having worked mainly in the development department during her time with the company. Oka was born in Hyogo, Japan in 1964. She was taught to play the piano at a very young age, and music became a passion from that moment on. After graduating from the Osaka College of Music, she officially joined Nintendo in 1987, initially working as a Sound Composer for the Research & Development 2 Division. ➥ Extended Profile Oka was mentored by section chief Koji Kondo, and her notable compositions included Golf: Japan Course, Vs. Excitebike, and Ice Hockey. In 1995, she formally resigned from Nintendo and began work as a freelance composer on various other projects such as anime, video games and standalone albums under the pseudonym "DJ Alice".
