Satoru Okada

Satoru Okada Former employee of Nintendo Company Limited, having worked mainly in the development department during his time with the company. Okada was born in Kyoto, Japan in 1947. Since childhood he was a fan of the outdoors, motorcyclist, and a hobbyist who would build radios on the weekend just like his boss Gunpei Yokoi. After graduating from Kansai University, he officially joined Nintendo in 1969, initially working as an Electrical Engineer for the Research & Development 1 Division. ➥ Extended Profile Okada was first assigned as one of the lead engineers assisting Yokoi on the creation of the Game & Watch series. Shortly after, he was assigned the position of assistant manager, and oversaw the development of all software and hardware being developed by Yokoi's development division. After Yokoi resigned from the company, Okada took the role of General Manager of the portable hardware division at Nintendo, where he lead the production of the Game Boy and Nintendo DS line before retiring.
