Satoru Iwata

Satoru Iwata Former president of Nintendo Company Limited, having worked mainly as an executive producer during his time with the company. Iwata was born in 1959 in Sapporo, Hokkaido Prefecture. After graduating from the Tokyo Institute of Technology, he officially joined Nintendo in 2000, initially working at HAL Laboratory from 1982 to 2000. ➥Extended Profile Iwata was credited as the executive producer for nearly all games released between 1993 and 2015. Unfortunately, he passed away in July 2015 following complications from a tumor in his bile duct. Tatsumi Kimishima became his successor in September 2015.
