Developer - Retro Studios Inc.

Retro Studios Inc. is a software company located in Austin, Texas. The company opened its doors back in October of 1998 with Nintendo sponsoring the company through a minority stake. Retro Studios began with an ambitious goal to simultaneously develop five first-party GameCube projects for Nintendo, which resulted in turbulence within the company as development progress of the five projects greatly suffered. Nintendo decided to seize complete control of the affiliate by buying 100% of the stocks, effectively converting the company into its subsidiary. Nintendo salvaged the company, and managed to oversee the successful release of Metroid Prime. Former Nintendo of America employee, Michael Kelbaugh, now sits as President of one of Nintendo's most prized development subsidiaries.
