Developer - Entertainment Planning & Development Division (EPD)

The Entertainment Planning & Development Division was established on September 16th, 2015 through the merger of the Entertainment Analysis & Development Division (EAD) and the Software Planning & Development Division (SPD) of Nintendo Co., Ltd. This R&D branch focuses on the production, development, and coordination of entertainment and experience software throughout various dedicated platforms and mobile platforms. Integrating resources and personnel between Kyoto and Tokyo, the development army currently spans over 800 employees with additional contract and affiliated personnel joining production cycles throughout the development of various products. Software development is divided within several production departments and groups, each under the management of venerable producers, staffing key core team members that additionally share a large pool of supplemental personnel during full scale production. The conception of development begins with experimental prototype development or product plan development that is realized both in-house or through cooperation with external agencies.

There are currently 11 production groups operating internally under the Entertainment Planning & Development Division.
