NOTES:

  • Nintendo DS Guide: Shin-Enoshima Aquarium was a free downloadable service provided through the Nintendo DS for use in the Shin-Enoshima Aquarium in Fujisawa, Japan.
  • The service worked as an audio guide that provided information throughout various points in the aquarium.
  • This service was part of Nintendo's "Nintendo DS In Public Spaces" which pushed for innovative uses of the DS in commercial and government facilities.
  • This also had a connection to Nintendo's broader "Public Space Utilization Initiative" which involved Nintendo integrating their design ideas into non-gaming public sectors.
  • Takao Sawano and the EAD Technology Development Group developed the technology powering the Audio Guide, and adapted it for this specific exhibit.
