Video game infoboxes

Before we really start to develop the site we obviously need to be on the same page in regards to the infoboxes that will be present on the site. I've been messing around with a few ideas and have received a lot of input. Here's the current version:

PLEASE tell me what you don't like. Even if there's nothing you seriously care about I'd like to know so that we don't have to fix things much later on. I took your advice and only put game screenshots in the infobox, but if you don't like so many images in there please tell me. Again… ANY input is appreciated.

The top one is the best one. By the way. I am not sure how to manage this. But i think we get 500MB of space until i upgrade. Then we get x amount of more space. So keep that in mind when uploading the images. Not bloatedly large images i guess.

4 might be a bit excessive. Maybe one main screen. and two on the right? Or maybe 4 is good.

Yeah I know about the 500MB limit. At first I uploaded a few images but currently I'm just using image farms and linking to the site instead of actually uploading them. Doing this doesn't use up any of our space. Once we upgrade we should be able to upload as much as we want but until then I'm just going to upload the images to other sites and use external links.

I'll see what three images looks like instead of four. The only reason I chose four is because I hate having so much unused white space on the right but if the images are bigger this shouldn't be a problem. Keep on updating me with all of your input so we can make them look as good as possible.

By the way. How many profiles have you done previously. Like meaning you can transfer on easily over. I am also waiting for Metal Lord to jump aboard also. I know he has some stuff as well.

Since we wrote most of the articles on the Nintendo Wikia most of them can be transferred without me feeling too bad about "copying". However, a lot of them need to be revamped and rewritten if we want people to view this site as being high quality since they're not very long. Once I'm finished with the Miyamoto article and we have a general idea of where we want the site going, I'll start working on the other profiles (which shouldn't take nearly as long as the Miyamoto one).

Ok. But seriously.

We need a picture size and a format size already on the personnel. Some of these are fascinating by the way. It is kind of cool being involved somewhere where you enjoy contributing as much as you enjoy the contributions back. But back to the personnel profiles, we sort of need templates, image sizes and formats in place.

Profile Picture.
- We need a size or display size to follow. Also we need to make sure the right text accompanying the pics is not off center. You think we should use 2 cell table ( picture | text ) . Maybe the table would synch the text and images better?

Work Sample.
- I liked that idea Metal Lord introduced. I resized the picture but i could not get the thumbnail code to work.

Career History
- Still not 100 percent convinced i like it on the right of the text body but i also still do not have any better ideas.

It doesn't matter to me. I'm personally more interested in writing articles than creating templates anyway, so if you come up with an idea please say so. The Eiji Aonuma one looks nice, but like you said we should probably have a standard image size for every person.

- Before I add any more infoboxes, I'm going to wait for you to decide a general size and infobox.

Career History

- Same thing with this. I'll let you tinker around with a few ideas and then once you've found one that works for you I'll start adding them to pages I make.

So once you're absolutely satisfied with everything, tell me so that I can go ahead and start adding them to pages I make.

EDIT:

OH! And if you're wondering how to do a line break, then just add a space followed by an underscore on a new line. To see an example of what I mean just go to the Miyamoto page and see the underscore I added on the Miyamoto page right above "Nintendo Company Limited".

Ok. So my suggestion is we just use the widescreen iwata asks photos. Why? There are over 100 pictures already there for us. And there will be more and more.. It will cover the most important and current people, and the format is standardized.

Now for the oddballs that never get an iwata asks portrait, we can either make an exception for them, or just try to use some type of frame to put the pictures on. It needs to all be easy. We have a lot of work to do!

Oh. And. Can you do a small time line here? was thinking if we can do just one of those under the portrait info - file for the company history.

For the people that never got an Iwata Asks portrait… as long as there's a large enough image on the internet somewhere I can always just make my own. It shouldn't be too hard!

I didn't add round edges but that's easily done. So that shouldn't really be a big concern. The biggest challenge will simply be finding an appropriate image and choosing which one we should use for the people who are interviewed by Iwata a lot (like Miyamoto). I would really really like it if all the images were the same size. Some of them only have small images that they posted on Facebook and… well what we'll do there I just don't know.

Oh, and can you explain a little more what you mean by a time line?
