Konno was on stage demoing the Super Mario Run game for IOS at the Apple Event. If you recall, we originally had a weird blurb mentioned "Hideki Konno was heading up smart phone development".

So this could mean two things.

1. Hideki Konno is the manager of the Smart Device Group, and they co-produce all Nintendo's smart phone games.
2. Or, Hideki Konno is still at Production Group No.1, and they are producing this game alongside the next Mario kart.

Takashi Tezuka is also on this though probably isn't that surprising since he works on most of the main Mario games. It isn't clear the exact role as Miyamoto just says he's a developer, but I'm guessing co-producer.

Yeah. I just read the interview. What this actually means is that Miyamoto (General Producer or Senior Producer) and Tezuka (Senior Producer / Co-Producer) will be handling the PR for this game since the real Producer (Hiroyuki Kimura) doesn't have a presence in Western or much media actually lol. Which essentially is the usual pecking order on the NSMB/MarioMaker/Pikmin games from Hiroyuki Kimura's Production Group No. 4.

So maybe Konno just went to help out at the event. He is actually a huge smart phone nerd according to Iwata.
