- The original Metroid Dread concept had a humanoid with legs chasing Samus although not exactly Emmi. Sakamoto postulates how even though ghosts are often seen as scary, so are human like things that chase you.
- Sakamoto describes his co-development experience with Team Ninja (and Mercury Steam) as fulfilling.
- Sakamoto came up with the cinematic over the shoulder viewpoints during the arm cannon scenes.
- Mercury Steam introduced the idea of melee in Metroid. Sakamoto pushed it even further.
- Sakamoto recalls how when the original R&D1 made the first Metroid games (Metroid 1 and 2) and how it was different training the later Wario Land team of R&D1 — to work on the Fusion and Zero Mission series.
- Since this was Sakamoto's first HD game, he asked for the cooperation of several different Nintendo departments with more experience, to assist with the quality/polish the game should target.
