NOTES:

  • Developed by Nintendo EAD and HAL Laboratory.
  • A 3D sequel to the 1987 Famicom Grand Prix: F1 Race.
  • The game was compatible with the Famicom 3D System, a 3D technology which consists of a pair of active shutter glasses and an adapter to connect them to the Famicom's third player expansion port.
  • Famicom Grand Prix II: 3D Hot Rally was shown to Nintendo of America, who heavily criticized the game, particularly the "cute" design of the vehicles, and stated it would not sell.
  • NOA's rejection of the title upset and motivated EAD director Kazunobu Shimizu to overhaul the look of the drivers featured in his next racing game, F-Zero.
  • EAD Programmer Yasunari Nishida, would use much of the 3D technology experimentation and raster effects to develop mode 7 technology used in F-Zero.
