Events: Nintendo E3 2012

Event Summary

Nintendo held its hour long press conference on June 5th, 2012 at the Kodak Theater in Los Angeles, California. The conference provided the full reveal of the Wii U and the world premiere of several first party titles for the system. In addition, several new Nintendo 3DS games were announced and displayed the following day at a co-event titled the Software Showcase. The event was hosted by several executives including Reggie Fils-Aimee, Satoru Iwata, and Shigeru Miyamoto. Other key personnel including Bill Trinnen also made appearances during the presentation.

Announcements

  • Nintendo announced Miiverse for the Wii U, which is an online Mii populated social community made up of friends, and gamers from around the world. Satoru Iwata hinted it would be possible for the Miiverse to appear on the Nintendo 3DS as well.
